God’s Ripple Effect

An acquaintance of mine mentioned those words together that got me thinking.  Have you ever considered that the advent of Christ is just like a drop of water into a still pool?  The pool was the Earth.  When Jesus fell into it on that day so long ago, the first ripples (besides the parents) were felt by angels singing in the heavens, the second ripple by shepherds in the fields, the third by Magi from far away…and in ever widening circles, that drop of water has been felt and continues to be felt across the globe.  What is exciting about this is that there is no potential limit to God’s ripple effect on earth!  The Earth is round, so the ripples never reach a side that stops them from continuing to expand.  Sure, directly opposite where the initial drop fell there will be a convergence of the ripples, perhaps, but couldn’t they simply continue on, passing through one another and causing multiple ripple points that then also spread ever wider?  May God bless you and bless you richly as you touch others in an ever-widening ripple effect this week.

“Throw a stone into the water,

In a moment it is gone.

But there are a hundred ripples

Circling on and on.

Say an unkind word this moment,

In a moment it is gone.

But there are a hundred ripples

Circling on and on.

Say a word of cheer and splendor,

In a moment it is gone.

But there are a hundred ripples

Circling on and on.”
