Prelude: “Amazing Grace!  How Sweet the Sound”  arr. by Mark Hayes

Call to Worship

Praise the Lord who is our provider.

The Lord is our hope. Our trust is in God.

God brought us out of bondage and has made us free.

The Lord is our hope. Our trust is in God.

Glorious are the deeds of our God, and mighty are God’s acts.

Let everything that breathes worship and praise God!

Prayer of the Day

Gracious God, we thank you for being ever present with us. We know that we are never alone. Your mercies have been faithful and rich. Pour out your Spirit upon us, that we might do the work of your will. In the name of our Triune God, Amen.

Hymn of Praise #81 “Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken”

Invitation to Confession

When we come together and confess, we recognize our humanity and pray for peace over our brokenness.  Together, let us pray the prayer of confession:

Prayer of Confession

Loving Lord, we have been wandering in the wilderness of COVID-19, national systemic injustices, and new home/work balance challenges.  We are distracted and distraught; yet you desire that we have the same mind as Christ and imitate his compassionate service. Please help unstick our minds from being fixed on attitudes and ambitions that draw us away from you. Help us consider how best our time and talents could bless one another, our families, and the world. Help us affirm the dignity of all. Transform us, we pray. By your grace, give us the same mind and the same love as Christ, and work within us until our actions bear witness to the faith our tongues confess.

                                                     Please continue in silent prayer

Kyrie #437 “You Are the Lord, Giver of Mercy

Assurance of God’s Presence and Passing of the Peace

Friends, believe this Good News: God is One and God is Three – Love constantly flowing in, out, and through; the gift of Jesus Christ for me and for you. For this we say: Thanks be to God!

Since God has loved us through Christ, let us love one another. The Lord be with you! And also with you! Please share a sign of peace.

Closing Hymn #263 “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name!”

Beloved, let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus: Love the Lord and serve others for the glory of God.

Beloved, may God continue to bless and keep you, “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may you be held in the palm of God’s hand.”

Congregational Song “Let There Be Peace on Earth”

Lyrics found on the inside front cover of the hymnal.

Questions for Reflection: What does it mean to do the will of God? Has God ever shown up in the middle of your complaining? When have you been wandering in a “wilderness of sin?”

Morning Prayer: Dear God, thank you for this day. Guide my mind in your way and help me to do your will. All praise, honor, and glory is yours. Amen.

Evening Prayer: Dear God, thank you for providing for my needs. Thank you for always being with me. Keep me through the night and put a song of praise on my lips when I rise again. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
