Welcome and Announcements
Prelude: “The Solid Rock” arr. by Edward Broughton
Call to Worship
From God comes my salvation. Ps. 62:1–2
For God alone my soul waits in silence.
God alone is my rock and my salvation.
God is my fortress; I shall never be shaken.
Let us worship God.
Prayer of the Day:
The present form of this world is passing away. 1 Cor. 7:31
Therefore, help us to keep our focus on you, Lord,
for true power and steadfast love belong to you. Ps. 62:11–12
Amen.
Hymn of Praise: #694 “Great God of Every Blessing”
Invitation to Healing
Trusting in the promise of grace, let us pour out our hearts before God.
Prayer for Wholeness
Holy God, you see into each of us and know us fully. Forgiving God, we repent of all the ways we turn from you. You call, but we do not listen; you show us your path, but we prefer our own way. Forgive us, heal us, and lead us back to you, that we might show mercy to others. In Jesus’ name we pray.
Please continue in silent prayer
Kyrie #437 “You Are the Lord, Giver of Mercy”
Assurance and Passing of the Peace
Friends, believe this Good News: God is One and God is Three – Love constantly flowing in, out, and through; the gift of Jesus Christ for me and for you. For this we say: Thanks be to God!
Since God has loved us through Christ, let us love one another. Please share a sign of peace.
You are invited to share God’s Peace with those with whom you are worshiping.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD
Hymn of Response: Hymn #170 “You Walk along Our Shoreline”
Affirmation of Faith: ~ Adapted from James 3:13, 18 in The Message
“Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It’s the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts….Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others…if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.”
Intercessory Prayers of the People
God of new visions, we pray for people highly placed in power, that they may focus their eyes on you. So, too, we pray for the victims of power, that they may also focus their eyes on you. Lord in your mercy, “hear our prayers.”
We pray for those who bless with their lips but curse with their mouths, including ourselves. Lord in your mercy, “hear our prayers.”
We pray for those who are ill and those facing the end of life. Give them the gift of prayer, that they may pour out their hearts to you. Lord in your mercy, “hear our prayers.”
We pray for the church and its leaders, that we may hear and respond to your call to be fishers of people. Lord in your mercy, “hear our prayers.”
Rock of our salvation, through Christ and your Holy Spirit bring us into the new world that you are shaping even as this world is passing away. We pray this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who taught his disciples to pray, saying:
The Lord’s Prayer: “…debts…debtors…” Hymnal p. 35 (Español p. 40)

An Offering of Thanksgiving: Hymn #710 “We Are An Offering” ~ Scott
Prayer of Thanksgiving and Dedication
Merciful God, you have saved us for a purpose. We dedicate to you the gifts of our hands, and we dedicate to you our very selves. We thank you that you help us to be your fishers.
SENDING
Closing Hymn #65 “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah”
Charge
Jesus followed John, proclaiming, “Repent, for the kingdom of God has come near.” Jesus called Andrew, who called Peter, who taught others to listen for God’s voice calling even more. Christ called to Paul who called Priscilla and Lois, who called her daughter Eunice, who called her son Timothy, who along with my home church growing up called me through the scriptures … and who is calling you once again … to go and do likewise.
Blessing
May the God of second chances renew your sense of call and inspire you to go out and share the good news of forgiveness and hope!
Congregational Song “Let There Be Peace on Earth” ~ Pastor Scott
Question for Reflection:
Psalm 62 ends by saying, “God, you repay to all according to their work.” Some of us may find that statement unsettling. Would you rather have God treat you with the payment you deserve or with the grace that you hope for in Jesus Christ?
Household Prayer for Morning:
Loving God, no matter what I am facing today; mourning or gladness, buying or selling, help me to focus on you throughout it all. Then, bring me home safely to you. Amen.
Household Prayer for Evening:
Loving God, thank you for the assurance that I live forgiven and loved by you. I need your grace and want to share your grace with others. As I face this night, help me to pour out my heart to you and then rest in peace. Amen
